Holi 2027 in Kochi: Parties & Community Celebrations
Holi 2027 falls on Monday 22 March, with Holika Dahan on the evening of Sunday 21 March. Holi is not a public holiday in Kerala and is not a traditional Malayali festival, so in Kochi it is celebrated in two distinct ways. The first is the community Holi of Mattancherry, where Gujarati, Marwari and other North Indian trading families who have lived here for generations play colours in the lanes around Gujarati Street, and where Konkani-speaking communities keep their own spring festival, Manjal Kuli, in which turmeric water takes the place of gulal. The second is the ticketed party. Organisers hire resort lawns, hotel poolsides and open grounds in the suburbs and along the backwaters for DJ-led colour festivals with rain dances, food stalls and organic colours, and college campuses and North Indian associations hold their own gatherings. Because Holi lands on a Monday in 2027, most parties are likely to be held on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 March. Late March is hot and humid in Kochi, so morning events are the comfortable ones. This page lists Holi parties and community events as they are announced.

Good to know
- Holi is a working day in Kerala. If you want the full experience, pick a weekend party on 20 or 21 March.
- Wear old cotton clothes, oil your hair and skin beforehand and carry a change; cabs may refuse colour-stained passengers.
- Choose events that state they use organic or herbal colours, and keep your phone in a waterproof pouch.
- In Mattancherry, join only where you are invited, and do not throw colour at passers-by or shopkeepers.
- Drink water through the morning. March heat and humidity catch out visitors.
