About Durbar Hall Art Centre
The Durbar Hall Art Centre is the Kerala Lalithakala Akademi's gallery in Kochi, housed in the former durbar hall of the Maharaja of Cochin beside Durbar Hall Ground. The Akademi, the state's academy for the visual arts, manages the building as an exhibition space, and it shows painting, sculpture, photography and print exhibitions by artists from Kerala and elsewhere, along with the Akademi's own shows. Durbar Hall was one of the sites of the first Kochi-Muziris Biennale in 2012 and has been used again in Biennale seasons since. Exhibitions change every few weeks, and openings, artist talks and camps are usually held in the evenings. It is the most central gallery in the city for anyone staying in Ernakulam.
