Things to do in Durbar Hall & Park Avenue

The blocks between MG Road and the Ernakulam boat jetty hold the city's civic and cultural core. Durbar Hall Ground, once the Maharaja of Cochin's durbar lawn, has an open-air stage used for cultural programmes, runs and festival events, and the Durbar Hall Art Centre beside it is run by the Kerala Lalithakala Akademi. The Ernakulam Shiva Temple stands on the same ground and holds its annual festival in the Malayalam month of Makaram. Subhash Bose Park, an 11.5-acre waterfront park opened in 1903, Maharaja's College and its stadium, and the Kerala Fine Arts Hall on Foreshore Road are all within walking distance.
