About Durbar Hall Ground
Durbar Hall Ground is a lawn of roughly two acres in the centre of Ernakulam that once belonged to the Maharaja of Cochin, who held his durbar in the building that is now an art gallery on its edge. State proclamations were read here between 1938 and 1940, and the ground was used for exhibitions, football and military parades. After years of neglect it was restored in 2002 by the district tourism promotion council, which added the lawn, walkways, an open-air stage and light towers. It now hosts cultural programmes, festival shows, fitness events and the finale of the Ernakulam Shiva Temple festival. Nammude Run Kochi 2027 is listed to start here on Sunday 28 February 2027.
