About Marine Drive Ground & Walkway
Marine Drive is the 1.75 km pedestrian promenade along the Ernakulam waterfront, built on reclaimed land facing Vembanad Lake. The walkway runs from the High Court junction towards Rajendra Maidan and crosses two canals on the Rainbow Bridge, which dates from a 1992 beautification project, and the Chinese Fishing Net Bridge. Boat jetties along it sell harbour and sunset cruises. The public ground at the northern end is the city's preferred site for large exhibitions and fairs, including flower shows, consumer expos, book and handloom fairs and festival-season amusement shows, and the Federal Bank Kochi Marathon holds its bib-distribution expo there. In the evening the walkway is one of the most popular free outings in the city.
