Vyttila is the city's biggest road junction, where the NH 66 bypass crosses the road from Ernakulam to Tripunithura. The Vyttila Mobility Hub brings long-distance and city buses, the Kochi Metro and the Water Metro together, and boats from its terminal reach Kakkanad across the backwaters. For event-goers it works mainly as an interchange: hotels and convention halls on the bypass towards Kundannoor and Palarivattom, the Kakkanad IT belt and the Tripunithura temples are all reached through it. A few banquet halls, gyms and studios in Thammanam and Ponnurunni host fitness events, classes and community programmes.
