Thevara is the quiet southern tip of the Ernakulam mainland, between the railway yards and the backwaters facing Willingdon Island. The Kerala Folklore Museum, a privately run museum built in traditional Kerala architectural styles, holds a collection of more than 6,000 masks, sculptures, costumes and ritual objects and has a stage for performances. Sacred Heart College is the area's main campus and hosts academic conferences, lectures and student festivals; the Kochi Biennale Foundation has also held public talks in Thevara. There is no metro station, so take an auto or city bus from Ernakulam South or MG Road.
