Things to do in Willingdon Island

Willingdon Island is the artificial island in the middle of the harbour, created in the 1930s from soil dredged for the modern port under engineer Robert Bristow. The Cochin Port, the Southern Naval Command and customs offices occupy most of it, and the hotels at its northern tip look across to Fort Kochi and Mattancherry. Events here are mostly hotel-based: waterfront dinners, New Year's Eve galas, weddings and conferences, along with port and navy open days. The Cochin Port Maritime Heritage Museum is also on the island. Water Metro boats on the High Court–Mattancherry route have called here since October 2025.
